This blog is Giampaolo and Sharon's birthday present to Ulli. Cheap and effective.

Powder Days/ Olympic Nights
I just have to perfect the naked wave dance, and the naked money dance.
A short snowcat ride to the halfway point.
And then a short hike with the rest of the Jone's to the top.
At the top we meet some real locals.
After catching our breathes at 12,392 ft, it's powder time!
We get one shot of Michelle in powder because no one can be bothered to take out the camera when it's this good.
We decide to take a day off and start our very own Olympics. First competition: Rock climbing.
Michelle goes first. But I beat her.
Second event: Figure skating.
Michelle showing great form.
Ulli on the other hand should have tried out for the hockey team.
Third event: Luge.
Ulli: 11 seconds
Michelle: 10.24 seconds
Just remember. You don't win silver, you lose gold.

Going (for) broke in Aspen
But who cares! We are having fun back on our snowboards and it's great!
Today we went to Snowmass mountain, and there was masses of snow!
Ulli modeling some high fashion 10 year old gear, it's probably in style again... ??
Michelle, feeling a sense of youthfullness, decides to hit the snowboard park, prematurely in the vacation. She got some decent air....
But overshot the landing, and the knee....
And kisses some hard pack .....
Nothing a hot mocha won't fix.
Back home for some snow shovelling
And Ulli completes the evening by doing the naked powder dance..... let's see if it worked tomorrow!!

Superbowl Sunday
I was never into it, cos I didn't put money on it! But look what happens when you put a bit of the green stuff down on a game and then win with just seconds to spare at the end of a game!
My (american) football season was short but sweet this year. I learnt to understand the basic rules of the engagement in the semi-finals, and won $10 on that game; so kept my underdog team for the finals, put $100 on and WON. Bloody fantastic. Here's a picture of that winning moment with my support teamates Lisa, Skylar and Nova (with baby Chase) basking in the glory of winning $$ from these armchair football seasoned pros!
Can't wait till next season HAHAHA!

Snow kidding
Who needs to travel to the ski resorts for a bit of snow, we've got it all right here! Check out our Hawaii snow fall! I was in Kula that morning- at about 5000 feet - half way up our mountain for this view. (I only had my phone camera, so have borrowed this proper shot from GP's blog, as it's too good to not post, grazie to GP and his leather loafers - another pic worth posting if I can only figure how to down load my phone pics)...... anyway, back to the gorgeous sight of white... (more cheese, I hear mum cry ;-)
It was about 55 degrees in Kula that morning. Haleakala was closed at the ranger station (7000 feet) because of icy conditions. I guess they had to de-ice the snow plows ;-) Anyway, a rare sight for our Maui eyes. And now we're all pumped on going snowboarding again.... maybe we only need to go as far as the Big Island ??!!
