Southside Delivers

Well it has been a damn fun few days on the Southside especially Thousand Peaks. Lots of great waves and great friends just hanging out and surfing.

Will it be curtains for Michelle?

The Sunday Club

The Sunday Club at Puamana beach park has been keeping us all sane this summer. Unlike the winter, summer waves in Maui are small and no fun .... unless you have the right tools! We have finally figured it out, it's all about the having the right toys for these conditions. Add to this, a good crew of friends, a few beers, BBQ and a stunner of a sunset and you have the perfect day.

Ulli takes the OC-1 outrigger canoe trawling up and down the coast with his fishing rod. We are still waiting for the first edible catch, none of this 4 foot needle fish crap!

GP catches a ripple on his OC.

There's never a wave you can't catch on a 12 foot stand up board.... but there's a long walk to get those toes on the nose!!

And then there's always tandem wrestle surfing, just to spice it up. Last man/woman standing on the board wins.

Finally, in a class of their own..... the mad dogs and Englishmen. There is never a dull Sunday with this lot. Last week they constructed a "kaya-maran" made up of 2 old kayaks and some 2X4's.

Great for 2 people......

Unless one of them is Simon the pie eater...seen here bailing water with his paddle from the sinking vessel.

Problem solved with the new proto-type tri-kaya-maran; bobs your uncle!

Cheers everyone, see you next Sunday!!!

Ultimate Surf- Shaggin Wagon

Our buddy Steve came by and showed us his new ride. A 1977 Pinzgauer Swiss military troop mover (sick!). Did I hear someone say pimp my ride?

On the couch.

Well Michelle got 2 new surfboards the other day. A 5'10" retro fish and a 6'6" winter stick. And you guessed it..... I'm on the couch while she gets to know them a little better.
We went to Breakwall to try them out. I took the fish out and first thing I thought was, "What is my fat ass doing on this boogey board with weird fins". Long story short, I got 2 crappy waves that I milked all the way in and you know, that little board rocks!
Super loose and pretty easy to catch the southside mush. It won't be long before 360's will be in my repitiore. On the way home, we stopped off at a little spot right off the highway with off shore winds, a 3 foot wave and 3 people out ... and took the board for it's first shack ride.

More creatures

I am digging the macro mode on this camera. You can get right in the face of some sick little bugs.

Aloha Friday

Driving down from Pukalani after work. You gotta love those West Maui clouds.

"Welcome to Hawaii" (Now run like hell)

Found this cute little fella on the kitchen floor.

Southside waves

I was quite impressed with the size of the south swell last weekend. I've seen smaller waves during an actual high surf advisory. Just goes to show that you don't know till you go. And of course Michelle was hogging all the waves.

Dr. Doolittle

The other day a little birdie was getting picked on by the neighborhood cats and it was in bad shape. We nursed it back to health with some TLC and a spoonful of wheaties. Later that evening the bird flew away and was happy as shit.

Control

I have now gained complete control of this friendly little blog. I have many changes in mind but I thought I'd throw in one last silly photo as a little bonus since we are on the " Lets humiliate our good friend Ulli "
