feet or inches??

Our original forecast for today was 8-12 feet......


This is what we got ....... 8-12 inches!

I guess some swells just pass us by, or the forecasters are smoking too much weed. Anyway, had it have been the feet not the inches, these glassy conditions would have made for some killer rides.

Oh well, guess we have to wait for the next swell to hit (or miss!) tomorrow.

24 Feet of Pure Surfing Enjoyment

Well it looks like Christmas came early this year. I just bought 3 new boards, 2 used and 1 fresh from the cannery. A Timpone 9'0'' longboard and 8'0'' gun, and a 7'0'' Kazuma classic. So Michelle is on the couch for the next few days so I can get to know my beauties a little more.

Beers on Wheels

No meals here! Our mate "Aussie Matt" popped round for a beer ... Aussie Style!! We cracked open a new keg in the drive way and enjoyed a few cold ones. He had a few more stops to make on his "round" after our place.



... Apparently the final destination of this keg was a party the following evening. We did not attend, as we heard the beer (after a day in the back of Matt's truck!) was warm and foamy!!!

Wave Quota

It's been an unusually flat November in Hawaii so far. I think we used up our wave quota in October. Anyway, luckily it's paradise and there are plenty of other activities to keep us entertained. Our friends originally from Park City, now living in Oahu came over for the weekend, so we decided to go into the Iao Valley to cool off on the swinging bridges trail.

This is Hula, our rent-a-dog (from the neighbors). She is the best, a model dog in every way!

Jeff is unphased by our feeble attempts.


The waterfall at the end of the official trail. We've hiked back into the boonies up the stream from here, climbing trees & rocks with a topo map and compass; with some other crazy friends. But we didn't have 8 hours to spare this time.

The pool at the foot of the waterfall is always inviting, for a refreshing dip. Michelle bores everyone with her usual back flip. Yawn, seen it a million times aleady do something new.

We enjoy the beach almost every day, so it's good to refresh ourselves with the other beauties of Maui. Aloha!

What a shiner!!

I just gave myself this a few hours ago ... No it was not Ulli still in the white trash mode from the other night!

My board gave me a scottish kiss right on the eyelid, totally missing my forehead, eyeball (thank god) and nose?! Even more bizarre is that it happened on my first measlie duck dive on a smallish day at Ho'okipa! I stayed out for a while in definance (and embarrasment!), until a guy told me to go an put ice on it becuase it was making his eyes water when he looked at me.

It's gonna look good tomorrow ... What a wanker!!
